Friday Five - newsletters
It’s that time again! For the third in my Friday Five series, I’m sharing five free e-newsletters to subscribe to if you’re interested in museum, heritage and arts sector news that's relevant to audiences and marketing.
I love these as they aren’t focussing on self-promotion, but have breaking news, exclusive stories, the latest research and insightful opinions.
Only one is specifically linked to marketing, but they all cover marketing and audience campaigns, research and news. I read them to stay up-to-date with the sector as a whole. All are free to sign-up to, two (And finally and Arts Professional) sometimes link to content behind a paywall.
Maxwell Museums – weekly news, openings, exclusive interviews, polls plus personal reflections and a gossipy tone means reading this is never a chore. Hats off to Maxwell Blowfield for running this for years (and all as a side hustle, as well as the day job as a PR).
Cultural Content – covers all things content and digital marketing, brought to you fortnightly by the fab folk at One Further, for years Georgina Brooke, and recently Louise Cohen and Chris Unitt, with a host of guest contributors sharing practical case studies.
And finally… – a monthly concise round-up of news relating to arts, culture, tech and a bit of DCMS, brought to you by Alex Pleasants and former Minister of Culture Ed Vaizey. Its concise covering of a breadth of sector news and with legendary puns, makes it very easy to skim through.
Museums + Heritage Advisor – a great overview of museum news, from funding and new openings to logo controversy, industrial action and repatriation.
Arts Professional – lots of news, research, investigations, and opinion pieces, strong on policy, strategy, funding and sector reports.
